VAL D’OISE
Place your bets!
A mere 14km from the Champs Elysées, the casino at Enghienles-bains
is a magnet for gamblers, whether your penchant is
for card games or one-arm bandits.
The setting is unique: the elegance of the
town of Enghien, its lake and art deco
atmosphere... and, for relaxation, a prestige
resort created by the Lucien Barrière group.
Everything you could possibly imagine in the
way of hotels, restaurants, spas, theatrical
entertainment and gambling. All yours, just
20 minutes from the centre of Paris!
Although the poker craze has swept the
whole of France, the gambling rooms of the
casino at Enghien (open every day from 4
pm to 4 am) are still the tops. This is true
whether you consider the decor: art deco
columns and gilded capitals; or the gaming
facilities: no less than forty tables. On busy
evenings, more than 120 staff preside over
the English roulette, French roulette, black
jack and stud poker games. For big hitters,
the venue of choice is the Salon des Princes
(every day from 9.30 pm to 4 am). This
room, with its intimate atmosphere and decoration
by Jacques Garcia, also boasts “mo-

The Val d’Oise is a region combining history
and modernity. History: with the archaeological
museum at Guiry and the
still very present Vincent Van Gogh at
Auvers. Other painters, too, have been
inspired by this département: Daubigny
worked on the banks of the Oise, Dupré
at Isle-Adam, Monet at Vétheuil, Pissaro
at Pontoise, Cézanne at Auvers, Utrillo
at Sannois… Modernity: is exemplified
by the new town of Cergy and CDG airport
at Roissy.
saic” murals by Gustave Klimt.
The one-armed bandit room, on the other
hand, is one of the biggest in France. This
mini Las Vegas (1,500m 2 ) comprises 350 machines
of 200 different kinds: one-arm
bandits, video-poker machines, roller videos...
you name it! And here is an encouraging
statistic: since April 2002, more
than 481 million euro have been paid out
to the clients of this gaming facility, which
is open every day from 10 am to 4 am.
Finally, to make life easier for the hardened
gambler, Barrière offer a Casinopass card.
This can be presented instead of an identity
card when you enter a casino. Issued free
of charge, it is valid for two years for all the
group’s casinos. A must if you want to pass
yourself off as a James Bond! ■
