Greater Paris:
Which quartier do you live in when you're in Paris,
and why did you choose this quartier?
David Guetta:
When I'm in Paris, I live near the Champs Elysées, in a peaceful
area on the right bank, well away from the
nightlife. I live near a park where I love going for
walks with my family: my wife, Cathy, and my
children.
Where do you like to go out for lunch or
dinner?
I have several favourite addresses, including
L’Avenue, on the corner of avenue Montaigne and rue François
1er - still close to the Champs Elysées! But I also like to
arrange to meet people at the Hôtel Costes, where I love the
atmosphere. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to stay in
Paris much lately...
What do you think would be an ideal night in Paris?
This might come as a surprise to you, but my ideal night in
Paris would definitely be an entire evening with my wife.
These days, I don't get a lot of time with my family, because
I've just begun a world tour. So my dream is an evening in
watching DVDs together, just the two of us!
That might not seem to match my image, but I play in the
greatest clubs in the world every night; going out on the
town is something I do every day for my job.
My wife and I MC'd Parisian nights for many years, so, now,
when I'm in Paris I want to do something different...
What was the last souvenir of Paris you gave to someone?

David Guetta’s
Paris
I export some
of our music
and some of
our culture.
With four other DJs, David Guetta will be
getting a crowd of 40 000 moving and
dancing at the Stade de France for the
Unighted by Cathy Guetta evening (1).
In the lead-up to this event, we met the
most glamorous figure in French nightlife
to tell us about Paris - somewhere he
feels he doesn't stay often enough.
Not to be pretentious, or anything, but if I say "myself" will
that do? (laugh)
Do you mean that you represent France somewhat
when you're abroad?
That's exactly it! During my world
tour, I export some of our music
and some of our culture. It's a
way of leaving a souvenir of
Paris wherever I go...
What do you think Paris
lacks, and what do you
think is unique to the city?
Paris needs a new nightlife experience:
a new club that
could bring together everyone
who's feeling a little
nostalgic and thinks that
Parisian nights are not as
exciting as they once were.
Nonetheless, Paris is still a
city of magical nightlife
and bright lights. ■
