Feline Crazy
More than twenty species of feline can be seen in a superb park,
located in Nesles. Unique in Europe!
Welcome to the Parc des Félins:
this breeding and zoological
reproduction centre, based in Nesles, is
exclusively devoted to the feline family.
From the smallest species (sand cats and
rusty spotted cats) to the largest (tigers and
lions). This centre, unique in Europe, is
situated in the magnificent wooded
domain of La Fortelle: a true haven of
peace for animals which are increasingly
threatened with extinction in their
natural habitat …
Of the 36 species of felines surviving on
our planet, over 25 are represented in the

East of Paris, the Seine-et-Marne has one million inhabitants and 514
communes. The region is characterised by its forests, its rivers, and its
famous Fontainebleau rocks – perfect for climbing enthusiasts. Not
forgetting Barbizon, Vaux-le-Vicomte, or the poet Stéphane Mallarmé’s
home.

The Parc des Félins is closely involved in
safeguarding these animals. It is a member
of the European Association of Zoos and
Aquariums, and of Isis, a worldwide
database which enables an effective
management of animals in captivity.
Visits to the park take place on foot, and
the landscaped paths are easily negotiable
by everyone. In addition, four walking
circuits are offered according to the
geographical origin of the lions, tigers,
panthers and other lynxes.

Bienvenue au Parc des Félins : ce
centre d’élevage et de reproduction
zoologique, basé à Nesles, est
exclusivement consacré à la famille des
félins. Des plus petites espèces (chats des
sables et chats rubigineux) aux plus grosses
(tigres et lions). Ce centre, unique en
Europe, se situe dans le sublime domaine
forestier de la Fortelle : un véritable havre
de paix pour des animaux de plus en plus
menacés de disparition dans leur milieu
naturel…

T-shirts, vests, and other feline-inspired toys
will make great gifts for both young and
old. Not forgetting the book section and
DVD about the park (€14.90), which
covers a day in the park and follows a
cheetah in Benin. Fascinating! ■
